Dear Neighbors,

Statement on attempted arrest incident:

There are videos circulating that show a law enforcement officer dressed in fatigues attempting to arrest a person on what appears to be the driveway of the person’s home. It also appears that the law enforcement officer was accompanied by a Barangay Dasmariñas Tanod. We have confirmed that this incident occurred in Dasmariñas Village on April 26, 2020.

While DVA supports the government’s efforts to eradicate COVID-19, DVA also recognizes the right of all residents to be secure in their houses against unwarranted intrusion by law enforcement officers. DVA has requested the Barangay to provide an incident report. DVA is also conducting its own investigation and will take appropriate action, keeping in mind the balance that must be struck between our residents’ rights and the government’s COVID-19 response.

If you feel that the Barangay sanctioned law enforcement officers are acting unjustly, please do not escalate the situation and do your part in reducing the tension. Please call the DVA Office and we will send our own village security to mediate and protect our residents from undue and unwarranted harm. In the meantime, we will work with the Barangay to get more details on the implementation of their ECQ rules and regulations. Let’s all work together for the continued health and safety of our residents.

We will keep the village informed as we gather more information and get a better perspective on the situation.

Your DVA Board
